NA-2515 Zuni Polychrome Bowl with Two Painted Frogs

This Zuni polychrome jar with concave base and somewhat compressed globular form, is painted over a creamy buff slip in dark brown and brownish-orange encircling bands above two frogs with spotted bodies and goggle eyes, alternating with two arching geometric designs. The base is painted densely with brown pigment. Unknown Zuniartist, circa the end of the 19th to the beginning of the 20th Century.

Formerly in a California collection of historic and pre-historic Southwestern pottery. This bowl exhibits much evidence of native use.
